Q: Are the crocodile clamps solid copper?

My clamps were delivered on July 13 2023. The jaw at the end of each clamp appears to be made of a bronze-colored metal that does not look like copper. The main body of the clamps is completely coated with either a red coat or a black coat. I am concerned that the jaw is attached to the coated area of each clamp and that the battery cable terminal is also attached to the coated area of each clamp. However, removing both sleeves from each clamp reveals that one arm of each of the two clamps has a copper strip connecting the battery cable terminal connection hole of that arm to the jaw of that clamp. The battery cable terminal connection hole of the other arm of the clamp does not have any bare metal showing.

Q: How to make a good electrical connection because the cable terminals are secured onto coated metal of the clamps instead of bare metal?

The plastic handle covers slide off and you can attach the connectors directly to the bare metal and slide the covers back on to insulate the connections.
