Some years ago I had documents and photos stored in what I thought was a safe place, but there was a bit of a flood and they were water damaged. After that, I started putting things like that in large zip-locks to keep them safe from water.As a firearm collector, I have some items I have never fired and others that might only be taken out every year or two. I noticed that in some cases I was beginning to get surface rust, despite having used protective oils probably due to the long time between treatments. Theis experience made me think that placing the smaller firearms like pistols in a zip-lock might be helpful. So I started using regular zip-locks after cleanings, first wrapping the items in silicone impregnated cloth and then sealing them in zip-locks while pressing out the excess air.That process seemed to work quite well. Then I heard of products like this one, which are impregnated with chemical wizardry that inhibits rust. So, I invested in a bunch of these. Though I cannot say for certain that they in fact inhibit rust more than a regular zip-lock can, they certainly work at least as well since I have never observed any rust formation even after more than a year's storage with no cleaning or other care. Even if the wizardry does wear out over time, or turns out to not to be as effective as claimed, the bottom line is that the bags seem thicker and more durable than a normal zip-lock and give me a far greater sense of security that wear and tear won't let moisture in. Additionally they come in a greater variety of useful sizes for my purposes.I still wrap items in reel cloth prior to placing them in these bags, but not to help with rust. I really do it nowadays mainly to keep sharp edges on the items from cutting into the bag and to soften any blows in case the items are dropped. The probability of sharp edges doing anything to these bags is already lower than regular zip-locks due to thickness, but I am just overly cautious with things that represent a real investment.And of course, the rust inhibition probably does add extra protection. I just don't have an objective measure with which to gauge it.In summation, if you need to store items and protect them from the effects of corrosion due to moisture in the air or other possible water damage, these really seem to do the trick.

These are great bags, not easily torn ripped or cut bought many over the years work great. Work as desired. No regrets

I believe these will do what they say they will do and what I expect them to do.

These are better than the factory preservation bags. They may not have the life span of them but the addition of the ziploc should help long term storage that will equal that of the factory storage bags. Thickness seems great too. The overall durability should be perfect when stored away. It does not state it's chemical/oil resistance though it should be just fine. Would recommend.
