Durable, Solid, and the Door Closes Itself Everytime If Installed As Instructed
I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality and functionality of this door curtain. I had moved into a 1 bedroom apartment which had no door between the living room and kitchen. The door and hinges were removed. I was having a hard time getting my living room cooled down with a 5000 btu window ac unit due to the opening into the hot kitchen. Initially I thought about actually buying a door from home depot and thought about industrial vinyl sheets used in loading dock passageways to prevent energy loss from frequent traffic. Then I came across this product and decided to give it a try. The material is a slick durable vinyl-like material that is smooth to the touch. They used decent quality material for this product and it feels like it won't tear. The decorative strip at the top of the door seems to be made with cotton. Installation took 10 min. The edges of the door has a very sticky adhesive that I peeled back and stuck to the door opening. You do have to measure and cut double sided extra sticky tape strip to stick onto one side's edge of the "door". Then stick the whole thing to the door opening wall. It comes with tacks for extra support so it won't fall off the wall. Unlike a lot of products out there where it doesn't stick well, this adhesive has kept the door up without a problem. When sticking the top edge, you have to raise the center of the top side slightly before sticking so that the flaps of the door will come back together when opened and closed. The door flaps have magnets that brings them together to close the door. I did stick some Gorilla Clear Tape on the top edge to make it more secure although I'm sure that it would have stayed up without it. And the product works as expected; it never fell off the wall and the flaps automatically come back together after passing through almost every single time. This saved me money and a lot of time from actually installing a door and my living room cools down quick with ac (or heat in winter). If you have an opening between rooms or even for moderate traffic back doors and want to save on energy with the convenience of a self shutting door, this Magnetic Thermal Door Curtain will do the job. The operation of whether the flaps closes by itself and whether or not the whole thing stays on the wall WILL depend on the installation. ..which if done right should work as advertised. My center was sagging a little and the door didn't close. Noticed I needed to raise the center of the top edge a bit more and put a tack there to ensure the door closes by itself which it does almost everytime.

Keeps the drafts out!
This is my 2nd time buying. It works! Due to my drafty old home. I have a foyer at the front door that use to be a breeze way, which they never insulated. Stays cold or warm which the.n Penetrates into the house. After using this 1st year 2yrs ago it was amazing going thru this was so much warmer /cooler! BIG DIFFERENCE!!Yes started using in the summer also! Sturdy also

Has its flaws but I would buy again.
The media could not be loaded. It's not pretty, but it works so well that it makes up for it. Install tip: dont stretch it taut - it closes more naturally when it has about a finger's width of slack on each side (I just misalign the velcro a bit when I am laying the sides down in place). As long as you walk through it with purpose, it closes properly. If you walk slowly, you'll want to kick it open after you pass through so that it has the chance to return to its place. You get used to it fast, kind of like closing a door behind you.I use it between the kitchen and the mud room, which is not insulated, but the dogs often occupy it to watch wildlife through the windows. You can see that this door keeps a differential of 47 in the mud room to 65 in the house when it's 33 outside. The dogs got used to this door faster than the other type of door which styles its magnets to overlap on the closure. These flaps, instead, meet in the middle and kiss, which seems to be more intuitive for the dogs. It also appears to break away with more ease, as the dogs have never ripped off the side velcro in these (but they have on the overlap style).I'm posting so much because the reviews had me on the fence, but I'm glad I took the chance.I think it would be perfect if it looked prettier and probably if it had few more magnets. Still, worth it.

Pet friendly (makeshift) doggie door-- yay!
I was looking for a double- panel, strong plastic, magnetic curtain rather than the kind that is just a double- panel 'screen' door curtain, to use over the doorway of a backyard door. So that it would keep the cold air from escaping from indoors, and seal up good enough to keep all insects OUT. Not thinking I would ever find this. Was so glad I found it in just enough time to be able to use while a family member went away on vacation. I will say that it has been working out great because of the fact that there was a glass screen door that I propped open just enough to give the dog enough room to exit. It actually helped block larger gusts of wind that are common where I live. Other wise this would never have worked in order for me to be able to leave the back door open about 1/3 of the way, for the family dog to come and go at his leisure, with this sealed up over the doorway. I put this up from the inside rather than the outside of the doorway because the glass door hardware was in the way and it worked out to my amazement.Keep it mind that this door curtain will not keep out things like mice, feral cats, skunks, racoons, snakes etc. So be careful if you need to use it like I am using it as a doggy door, if your pet isn't much of a hunter. Fortunately we have a terrier that is capable of keeping all unwelcome critters at bay. It is best if you have a backyard that is fully enclosed by a fence. This was only a temporary fix that has worked out well so far.I was impressed with the design of this, and was happy that I did not have to use tacks (unless I wanted to in a few places) because of the adhesive backing on the back of the velcro strip that was strong and stayed put. The design of this curtain was well thought out, and arrived as promised within 2 days, as stated. I totally recommend this item if sawing out a bottom square of a wooden door to add an actual doggy door is not an option. Helped reduce my stress level during the times I could not drive over to let the family dog out, every few hours. When I returned it was sealed up properly so it does work, and our dog had no problem entering and exiting the curtain. A gentle breeze makes this curtain door work even better by helping to seal it up with the magnets. Thank you Appiness and Amazon.
