I had recently run out of "curry" powder. When I went to look up ingredients for various brands of "curry" powder I learned no two are remotely the same. Also most don't even include curry leaves. While searching I stumbled across this brand and bought three different mixed spices. This one smells like a warm spicy cardamon, and tastes every bit as good as it smells.So far I used it in banana bread. Came out beautifully, like a moist yummy spice cake. Also sprinkled it on my oatmeal this morning. Gave it a slightly sweet, licorice type taste without adding any calories. If you like spiced tea, sometimes known as "chai" this can be added to the tea leaves when brewing or you can steam it with the milk if you are making chai lattes.I think it would also add complexity to meat dishes like lamb or chicken biryani but I have not had a chance to try anything like that because we are a mostly meatless household. I plan on adding it to the next batch of dahl I make. In all I am extremely happy with this versatile spice mix. I bought the 3 ounce size because I wasn't sure I would like it, and now I wish I got the larger!It packs only a very subtle heat. If you don't like spicy food this may be the flavor for you. It will add complexity and depth to a dish without making it broke the mouth hot. But if you don't ever add even powdered ginger to your curry, it may possibly be too hot for you.
