My new Oakcastle HiFi100 music player arrived yesterday from Amazon and on first impression it looked like a quality piece of modern audio equipment. I unboxed it from the sturdy packaging and I found the power adaptor, the remote and the instructions plus the music player. I set it up on my mantlepiece and turned it on. As it was asking me to pair something, I paired my phone with ease and I started to play some tunes, and the first thing I noticed was the quality sound which impressed me. Next I found a few of my mp3 discs and I started to listen to these and I found the file system easy to navigate and the quality of the sound was brilliant. I found myself listening to track after track and hearing these with what felt like fresh ears. I heard the music with a quality that I had never heard before. I heard all the instruments as clear and crisp as the musician intended and I sat enthralled by what I was hearing. I listened to CD after CD and after about three hours I decided to get up and do something else. The FM radio works just fine as long as the aerial is up and can get good signals but it's the CD player with its 40 watt sound that I'll be using mainly because of it's quality sound. The radio has 20 presets which are easy to load and use, but in my region there probably isn't 20 good FM stations. The Oakcastle CD radio also has a 3.5 mm auxiliary input at the rear for connection by other music players. The remote control is a quality handset and it can control everything that the music player does. For those who use it as a bedside radio / CD player there is a sleep function which will turn the music off after a designated time plus it has an alarm function with a snooze function. The sleep and alarm are operated by the remote only, but that's what I would use instead of reaching out to the machine. Another good thing about this quality music player is that it can be mounted on a wall due to its slim profile and I'll probably mount it somewhere. I suspect that Cambridge Audio have played their part in this brilliant sounding music player and I get the impression that my Oakcastle HiFi100 slim CD music system will keep me entertained for a long time to come.

nice looking, well designed and great sound. Remote control is a bonus and both main unit and remote are easy to operate. Item is well made, good quality and great value for money.

DVD Player looks good and feels sturdy. Very easy to set up - the clock was slightly troublesome.Remote works well.Machine has 5 sound settings so cannot adjust sound balance.Amazingly classical music sounds clearer on the Rock mode than on the Classical mode!Bluetooth connection is brilliant.

I reviewed quite a few systems before deciding on this model, came the very next day, so easy to use, looks very sleek and stylish and the sound is excellent with the advantage of changing the sound effect from Jazz, Pop, Rock etc. Love that I can also use Bluetooth to play what I like. The sound is the main thing on a music system, and the sound quality from this is just about OK for the price, one thing that does really disappoint is a noticeable hiss from the speakers which is intrusive at low volume settings and with spoken word audio. the functions otherwise work very well, CD player is OK, I get poor reception from the FM radio though, even with the wire aerial, and the Bluetooth works very well. Beware using the alarm with CD or radio...it comes on at a very high default volume setting, regardless of the setting you have the volume on for music/radio etc.

I bought this cd/radio for my wife's birthday ,she is extremely happy . Its not a world beater for sound but very acceptable and she has a keen ear . Easy to understand instructions .Was going to give 4 stars but on reflection it is worth 5 so 5 star review .

Not quite as good as I had hoped but still good. Separation of instrument sounds was very good. Would have benefited from a bit more bass. Have not tried the radio. I bought it for the C.D. player.

Looks like a nice product but the sound quality from the in-built speakers is very poor and muffled. I assumed I could connect the CD Player to an external speaker or Alexa - but there is no Aux-out port and the Bluetooth connection is only a receiver - so you can’t play the CD via Bluetooth to another speaker - you can only play a phone or external device into the CD Player to use the CD Players speakers. In the end, I gave this away to a charity shop and bought a simpler CD Player with Aux-out and Bluetooth out connectivity.
