Good entry or training Tri Shorts
Five stars for the cost for quality ratio. Consider this as entry Tri Shorts, in the case that you do not want to jump right in to the higher priced name brand shorts. Or, perhaps you want an alternative to train in some shorts that don't set you back an arm or a leg. In my experience, if you train in a chemical pool, tri shorts will degrade pretty quickly. These are advertised as Tri Shorts, which means you should be able to go from swim to bike to run without changing. These shorts will do that well, mainly because the padding is thinner than any "tri" suit I have used. These are not cycling shorts. If you are only going on a long bike ride, you'll probably want cycling shorts with more padding. If you aren't so sensitive to the saddle, maybe these will suffice for only cycling. In order to do all three sports with a quick transition and not changing the shorts, you trade off the cycling padding for something much thinner. I was able to swim and run comfortably in these as well as a rather short 15 mile bike ride. I am also comfortable wearing these as shorts and not something just under shorts. That said, I do wear an athletic brief underneath, mainly because I am risk averse when it comes to chafing, and the padding is stitched in, and just does not look friendly. However, I wear the athletic brief under all tri suits. Another consideration is the rise, as these sit lower on my waist that other swim suits and tri shorts. The images on the Amazon pages are a bit weird looking, with the draw string knotted on the outside. The draw string actually sits inside the waist line. I would use the pockets for gels, but not a phone or keys. The fit is pretty much what I expect (155lb, 32in waist). I will definitely use for training.

Know your body
I'm a 63-yr-old male and bicycle outdoors in a hot climate 30-40 minutes per day. I'm not the svelte bicycler you think of when you think regular road rider - I'm 6'0" and weigh in at 200 lbs. These Sparx Men`s Performance Tri shorts are my first experience with padded shorts. I'm a 33-34 waist and ordered the Large size. I think I would go with the XL next time - but I've come to terms that I just don't look good in bike shorts. I usually wear a gym short without underwear due to the local heat, but with these, it just feels like you need something to keep that ugly pad away from your body. They are comfortable on the bike, although after riding they aren't so comfortable in the water due to the padding. It's not like a swim trunk, and they just feel weird to me. But the quality seems good, the pockets will hold your phone or wallet, and if you can get over the looks of the sewing lines for the inside pad on the outside of the shorts, these will probably be a good fit for you.

Nice color and comfortable
My husband rides his bike a few hundred miles a week, so I'm always on the lookout for some more affordable riding gear. When these arrived and he was told how much they cost, he doubted they would be comfortable or provide enough padding for long rides. (He typically pays $100-$200 for cycling shorts at the local bike store.) He tried them anyway, at my insistence, and was pleasantly surprised. He said they are comfortable to wear, wick moisture well, don't ride up his legs at all, the waistband lays flat, and the padding, while not as substantial as some of his pricier shorts, is adequate for a 50 mile ride. Oh, and he really likes the color. The shorts do run a bit small. They were too small when he was pushing to the top of an XL size, but now that he's at the bottom edge of wearing an XL, they fit very well. They are skin tight, though, so if you're like him you'll want to treat these as more of a padded under short. They just don't leave much to the imagination otherwise.I've washed them at least half a dozen times so far, always using the gentle cycle, cold water, and then line dried. I've included a number of photos for how the stitching is coming undone in a number of areas. I understand that they were only $39.99, a bargain for cycling shorts, but I expected to last at least through an entire cycling season. If the stitching continues to decay, they likely won't make it to the half way point in the season, which in Wisconsin isn't that long. There's no reason for stitching to come apart like this. So, they perform very well at a nice price point, but the stitching quality will limit the length of time you'll be able to use them. I might order another pair next summer, just to see if they hold up better. I'd really like some lower priced options when it comes to his cycling gear.

Functional Design with Room for Improvement
The Men's Performance Tri Shorts offer commendable functionality and thoughtful design, featuring multiple pockets and durable compression tailored for triathlon pursuits. Nonetheless, there are noteworthy aspects that warrant attention.Firstly, it's essential to note that these shorts tend to run larger than expected. For optimal fit, I advise considering a size down to ensure a snug and supportive feel, particularly during rigorous activities such as cycling and running. Moreover, it's worth mentioning that these shorts do not incorporate removable padding, which may present a limitation for some users. While the padding contributes to comfort during extended rides, its fixed nature restricts versatility, especially for those with preferences for varied padding or none at all.Despite these considerations, the shorts excel in moisture management and longevity. The array of pockets proves highly practical for storing essentials during races and training, while the sleek black design lends a polished aesthetic.

Good training or entry level shorts
Looking for a decent pair of triathlon shorts for a first triathlon and don't want to spend an arm and a leg then these are a good first pair. These are also good for having a "cheaper" pair of training shorts in case you don't want to use your expensive ones for training.Overall, the fit is good and I like the pockets as they are easy to toss your nutrition into as soon as you get out of the water.
