Very well made and sturdy! Not the cheapest, but worth the price.
We were using the fold up in a bag type camping chairs. On a whim we've bought two inexpensive director type chairs last camping season to see if we liked them better. No one wanted to use the old chairs, so this season I decided we needed two more. I looked at the less expensive chairs but people complained about the stitching on the backs pulling loose and the chair being unusable. The back on these chairs don't have the same material configuration and so that seem pulling out is a non-issue. The metal on these chairs is very sturdy. The material thick and of a great quality. They sit a bit lower to the ground than my other chairs, which I'm thrilled about being only 5' 2". My husband who is 6' 2" found them very comfortable and didn't mind they weren't as tall as the others. The back on our cheaper chairs is stick straight, which works for sitting at the camp table, but not so comfortable to just sit around. The back on these chairs tilts back slightly so I expect them to be a bit more comfortable for sitting. Like another reviewer stated, they are heavy, so you don't want to carry them a long distance, but this type of chair when folded is bulky and difficult to carry anyways. I wouldn't be carting my cheap light ones around either. These are more expensive than some of the other chairs on Amazon, but are well worth their price. I highly recommend them.

Even Better than the Previous Model We Owned
I purchased two of these chairs in August 2021 and I love them. They were actually replacements for two other chairs we purchased from the same brand more than 10-years ago that finally fell apart (fabric). I expect that these chairs will take a beating just like the others and give us a good number of years of enjoyment. We have taken them to the beach and to the mountains and we sit on our back deck in them often rather than our patio furniture. I am 6'7" and 325 lbs and these support me perfectly. They also sit up higher than most chairs, which is important for hip comfort. The new design allows for easier, more compact storage, as well. I recommend these to anyone looking for a sturdy, easy to fold chair.

Comfortable and perfect for those needing support when getting up from the chair.
Great sturdy chairs, comfortable and easy to get up from with bad knees because it is sturdy enough to allow you to push against the arms for support. HINT: you can easily put the detachable back piece on and off in the folded position; it is almost impossible in the open chair position which is what I tried first and is probably why some reviews complain about this feature. My husband is 6'4" and I am 5'4" with approx. a hundred pound weight difference, and we both find them comfortable for long periods of use. We recently had a garage sale and one person asked where we got our chairs and when I told her Amazon and they were currently on sale we suddenly had people trying out our chairs and taking down the info to go home and order. The can holder works for the large powerade bottles perfectly and a 12 oz can will work leaning against the side but some items won't work if not as wide and top-heavy. They are a little heavy for carrying long distances (my husband turns them upside down and carries on his shoulder) but these chairs have a 425 pound capacity so the extra weight is needed for that rating. I originally bought an older version of this brand at a garage sale and was so spoiled I wanted a new set because I think they are the best folding chairs available.

Get One For Everybody In Your Family!
I can't say enough good things about ALPS and the design/durability of this chair. It is extremely comfortable and durable-- I have one that is at least 5 years old and still going strong after plenty of trips to the desert, the beach, the gun range, the backyard for kids parties, etc., etc., etc.-- how many camping chairs can you say that about??? My only complaint about it is that the foam on the arms will tear pretty much as soon as you stow it for the first time and it rubs up against another item... but the rest of the quality is so great I'm not lowering my star rating. Now when I buy these for my growing family, I literally just take a box knife and cut the arm rest foam off and forget about it-- the arms are still comfortable with smooth aluminum underneath. If you absolutely have to have cushioned arm rests (like my wife) then I would advise to wrap the arms in a durable tape (duct tape if you don't care how it looks) before the foam has a chance to get torn off. The other thing to be aware of is that these fold flat, not into a tube shape, so just be aware of this when planning to transport them, as they do take up a lot more room than the cheapy camp chairs that everyone has and complains about being uncomfortable and pieces of junk. These are quality-- get one for each member of your family!

Awesome Chair!
I have been wasting my money on 20 dollar chairs for 5 years or so and they all die within a year or two. This chair is really sturdy AND it can be taken apart to repair if necessry. Even all the stress points for the fabric are on a bar or have a wide rounded portion in the back rest. Very comfy too! They are pricey but it is going to last , I am not buying anymore cheap chairs going forward that's for sure! Get what you pay for

Sturdiest chair ever!
Fantastic chair. You really feel the quality as soon as you get your hands on it. Sturdy, comfortable, and beautiful quite frankly. This is probably the last camping chair you will ever buy; feels indestructible. Unfortunately, the size when folded did not suit my application otherwise I would have ordered one more! I ordered the ALPS Mountaineering Leisure Chair, Khaki instead simply because of a logistic reason.
