Q: I can't fit my dog inside how do I make this work?

You don't put any animal inside this ball it is made for treats that your dog plays with in order to get the treat out of the ball.

Q: since the IQ treat ball is plastic will a large dog break it

I have a black lab and we have had two of the 4" balls. After about a year a high value treat got stuck and my lab somehow broke it. I think she was mad at it and me and chewed it so the pieces would not fit together anymore. It did last for over a year and kept her busy especially when the weather was not great outside so I did order a 2nd one. It has been over a year and the 2nd one gets a lot of use but still looks good. Its possible for a dog to break but its probably not likely.

Q: Where do you find small enough treats?

Cheerios work great! Or break some Pupperoni into little pieces (I had to use scissors). Regular small bite kibble works great too. Instead of giving it all to her at dinner, I hold some out and put it in the treat ball for later. That way she's not getting fed twice.
