Nowhere to Run (1993)

nice upgrade from good old SD DVD, picture was pretty good and i was pretty happy with the purchase, a few extras to boot also, another part of my Van Damme collection

I've just bought a new 50inch Sony TV and christened it with watching Nowhere To Run. I was blown away with the Blu-ray transfer. The picture quality was absoululy perfect. And what a film Nowhere To Run is. I've always thought it was one of Jean Claude Van Damme's best films, perhaps even THE best he has ever done. I do have my favourite JCVD films, Universal Soilder, Time Cop, Hard Target, Blood Sport and AWOL. But there is something a little different about Nowhere To Run. It's an action film set amongst a drama and a love story, with the action sitting comfortably in the background instead of being what drives the movie. I think it's JCVD's best acting to date to be quite honest. He is an underrated actor in my opinion but I have found the older he gets the better he is. Take the more recent Until Death, Wake Of Death and JCVD for instance. Those films really show how he can act his socks off. And in Welcome To The Jungle, he has shown us he can do comedy pretty well.Nowhere To Run is a story of an escaped convict who is hiding away in a small town and ends up coming to the rescue of a young single mother and her kids. Instead of jumping straight into bed with her for a bit of rumpo, JCVD starts to become a bit of a father figure for her children and companion for their lonely mother. Don't worry, he does end up dealing with baddies with some really good fight scenes in the traditional Van Damme way. The ending is surprisingly emotional which JCVD deals with brilliantly, without over doing the tear jerker moment. I won't reveal the ending but It is a lump in the throat scene. Every person in the film puts in a great performance, even the two kids, one played by Kieran Culkin, brother of that prick Macaulay. And we know what a knob he is. I am not a fan of kids in films really, or in life to be honest. They just bore me and I simply dont see the cuteness or fun in them at all. The only other exceptions to the rule are Kindergarten Cop and The 6th Sense.There is nothing to fault with Nowhere To Run at all and I recommend you watch it. Even non JCVD fans will like this I am sure.

Really enjoyed this one. But different for JCVD. Good actors all round.HD transfer is good aswell

I decided to buy this REGION A bluray cos I had a European import of nowhere to run on bluray but it was cut to bits!-when I seen this for sale from the USA region A I quickly ordered it cos its an American import and would be uncut by the BBFC.(they cut loads of films)I enjoyed watching it on bluray and it looked good on bluray,but it wasn't in 16;9 widescreen saddley;and the disc has no BONUS FEATURES,not even a theatrical trailer,which is very very disappointing!!-apart from this 'gripe' I was happy to finally watch nowhere to run uncut on region A.

Hi it's me again Sue 😜. And have seen this D.VD be for & it's very good so l have not seen it yet 👌🙃👍. But I am going to watch later on when some of my friends come round to my home 😉👍. I watch this D.V.D back in the day when it came out ☺️🙃.
