Cat Security™ - Catalytic Converter Protection shield, Fits - Toyota Prius V 2012-2017

Rattle city. I think I would rather have my cat stolen than listening to the exhaust rattle against this plate all the time.The design flaw is that the shield is flat. I included a pic of the OEM heat shield that you have to remove to install the Cat Security. Notice all the curves. These provide the necessary clearance so there are no rattles.

I'm very concerned with the increase in catalytic converter thefts in my area & I travel alot as well - hotel lots are always a target for thieves. The Cat Security Shield gets good ratings, so I ordered. It's an investment in your car's security, but factor in the time & expense of installation.You can install it yourself - BUT, you'll need a rivet gun & to be able to lift the car a good 12-18 inches off the ground to be able to access the area to install the shield. Keep in mind, you're going to be using several different sizes of rivets & will need to drill some holes directly into the frame of the car. It is not a quick & easy install. However, this is also why it is a good theft deterrent. It's designed to be just as hard & time consuming to remove, so no smart thief will want to bother with it.I opted to have it professionally installed at my local Toyota dealer and it took them a little over 2.5 hours & my cost was close to $300. Considering what I had already paid for the shield itself, I hadn't expected that added cost. HOWEVER, it's an investment in my car's security & is still much less than what it would cost to have to replace my catalytic converter if it were ever stolen.It is very well constructed & fits snugly & perfectly in the area of the underbody that it's protecting. It's even chrome plated, too bad no one will see it.

I was surprised at how flimsy this shield is. I'm not sure who thinks this is protective. Anyone who can cut through a cat converter, could just as easily cut through this shield. It's nothing but lightweight aluminum. Money down the drain. You're better off just making sure your insurance will cover the theft and potential towing charges. This shield is a waste of your money.

Local AAA installed for $ 130.00, they said it was a good product

At the Toyota dealership where we had it installed the mechanic said it was better than most of the other catalytic converter shields they had installed.

Mechanics who put this on. Said it was one of the better quality shields..I like the window stickers..

we have had a lot of catalytic converters stolen in our area, so this product really gave me piece of mind & my mechanic had no problem installing it.

Like- very easy to install with the correct specialized tool. Quick to install.Dislike- rivets are limited, no spare if you break it. Have to find a home improvement shop that carries the 1/4 rivet.
