I wanted to love this, but it was just not quite sturdy enough to be useful. I give it 3 stars because it DOES get the job done. It does adjust to the right size and hold within the CD slot quite well. The problem is that it is too narrow in minimum width to securely hold an iPhone 5s. I know it claims to be able to adjust to iPhone 5 sizing, and technically it does. But because it's spring loaded, by the time the springs push the holding arms inward together to clamp onto the iPhone 5 sides, there is not much tension left in them, and it only moderately holds. Any bumps in the road knock it out, and even moderate pressure on the phone screen while in the holder (which is what it is designed for) will push the phone out of the holder arms. Doesn't work for me. Would work much better for larger phones (Galaxy, iPhone 6, etc) so it retains 3 stars. Returning for my own inability to use it, thought.***UPDATE 8/19***I am very impressed with iOttie's customer service. They reached out to me proactively to help me solve the issue and ended up replacing the part with a similar product that works better for my needs at no cost to me. Very quick shipping, friendly representatives, and they take the initiative to correct problems!?? I wish more companies stood by their products like that and took the same stance toward their customers. I am very pleased with both the company and the product. I now have a working iPhone holder and I love it.

I place this phone holder on my VW TDI and it works perfect in the vent, mostly it keeps my phone from overheating in the hot sun. I really like it!

The iOttie Easy One Touch Mini CD Slot Car Mount Holder Cradle is a good product. However, the only weak point for me, is the strength of the spring-loaded & rubber-padded adjustable phone grip portion. It is adequate, but IMHO, the adjustable grip itself could be just a little bit firmer, or possibly feature a way to 'click' lock the phone into place once it is set at the proper angles.My phone (i-phone 4S in a hard & smooth optics case) does not generally come loose on me, but I sense that it might, especially in the event of a quick or sudden stop. However, I can easily loop a rubber band over and around the adjustable padded grip portion (and obviously behind the phone in its case), to more securely hold the phone in place. A click-lock feature, firmly holding the smart phone and case "in place" would obviate that need.On the plus side, the phone holder mount (the portion fitting into the CD slot) is quite firm and very solid. I rate that CD mount to be excellent! Plus, the padded phone mount outside of the CD slot can be easily adjusted for finely affixing the phone at the desired horizontal and vertical angles, given the specific specific needs of the driver and/or passengers within the vehicle.In other words, as a driver, I can pull off the road, such as in a rest stop, and then sit back and have a full visual conversation, without having to hold the phone. Or, the mounted phone holder can easily be adjusted so that a passenger, i.e., someone sitting in the passenger seat, is able to carry on a fully visual conversation on a smart phone, or even watch a video while the vehicle is proceeding along on a highway.My opinion: This mount is superior to cup-mount phone holders because it is far more adjustable, but it needs an improved phone grip. A mere rubber band can substitute for that, so I would recommend this over other phone holders.

I have owned and used this product for about a week. So far I am happy with this purchase. My car is relatively new, only 1 year old, so I really did not want to mount something onto the dash and risk damaging my vehicle. I also didn't want to use a window suction mount, so this vent mount seemed a good solution.It is relatively easy to set up. A sheet of paper comes in the box with basic instructions. Basically the mount comes in two pieces and you click the two ends together. The only difficult part for me was pushing the button to open the vent clamps. I am not sure if this varies on each mount, but I found the button rather hard to push down. I had to use both of my thumbs and it still barely opened. I probably don't have the strongest hands, but it was still a hard button to push down. Anyway once you open the clamps you just place it onto the vent where you want it. I have vertical vents and from time to time while driving with my phone on the mount, the mount will move the vent all the way to the left or all the way to the right due to the weight of the phone and the car moving around turns. I just move the vent back into place and it's fine though. I think if you have horizontal vents you would not have this problem, but I consider it a minor issue and nothing worth returning the mount over. The phone sits firmly in the mount and I have never had any scares with the phone falling or sliding around in the mount.Overall I'd say this is a quality mount. It holds my phone firmly and also clamps firmly onto the vent. The only issue I have with it is that the button to open the clamp is hard to push down on. This may vary by each product though. I am just leaving the mount on my vent so it isn't a big deal, but it does make it a bit of a nuisance if you wanted to constantly move this mount from vehicle to vehicle. This mount is worth buying if you are in the market for a vent mount. I like that it isn't magnetic, and it doesn't take up a ton of vent real estate. I still feel air coming out of the vent fine. It does exactly what it advertised. Note: The phone I am using is a Galaxy S7. The phone fits in the mount fine and does not move.
