An intimate book
If love The City, as I do , you will love this book. The author writes an intimacy , as if walking with an old friend . Highly recommend !

Great book
It’s a great way to discover less obvious parts of NY even for New Yorkers.

Sad ending
I just finished this book last night and this morning Mr. Helmreich died of Cobvid 19. I love books about NYC and Mr. Helmreich captures the true nature of regular New Yorkers in their habitat.

Very interesting book about NYC
Great book, fabulous series. I recommend the audible version of the New York Nobody Know. After a while it makes you start to look at your own neighborhood more closely and think like a sociologist.

Great book full of very interesting information. Easy to read and I’m certain it will be of great use on our upcoming visit.

Knowing people and what makes them tick, and where they live life.
I preordered this book a while back and received it on my Kindle Dec. 11/2018.I have begun reading, it is slow going because every time you explore another Avenue (Avenue of life) I Google the places you are presenting, so as to be there with you on your walk. I get a street view, and I feel I am right there.I have done the same with The New York Nobody Knows; The Brooklyn Nobody Know: now this The Manhattan Nobody Knows. I appreciate the effort you have taken, the interaction of people on your journey of living, and simply the man you seem to be: you seem to care about people.I was looking forward to you next book after The Brooklyn Nobody Knows, wondering what would be next. I check you on Amazon from time to time... You seem to have passed on the love of writing to you family... I also love writing, words are my pleasure...Good on you,All the best,Jacob Bergen

not a guide at all
an interesting book but not a guide at all. I am planning a trip to New York and as much as it will be fun to read this book before going I will not take it with me.Here is a random example of the content to show the style :"As I walk around the Upper East Side, especially along Park Avenue, I notice the gold brass signs of the physicians and dentists. There's a general perception that offices here are better than others. I find myself wondering: Are these doctors and dentists really that much better than those elsewhere?"....
