Great cat waterer - quiet and reliable
I'll start with the dislikes.-crickets-OK, that's it for the dislikes. On to the likes.*Quiet -- nearly inaudible in 'bubbler' mode and very quiet using the flower fountain top. There's slight humming from the motor, of course, and this can be amplified by the unit's position on a counter, floor or appliance. If you hear more humming than you think you should, and the unit is properly assembled, full, and has a clean filter, try moving it elsewhere as a test. In our case, a different location on a counter made a massive difference in avoiding resonances. Operation is essentially silent if it's placed on a slab floor in bubbler mode.* Easy to assemble, disassemble and clean -- compared to another waterer we used for years, this is just silly-easy to clean. Pop the top, scrub out, rinse and reassemble. There are no crazy blow-molded pieces to make or buy special brushes to fit into or around. Cleaning the pump is as easy as removing the screen, pulling the impeller out, washing it off, and letting the magnet pull back into place.* Cat acceptance -- a biggie. We gave our cats access to both waterers (this one and a Drinkwell Platinum) simultaneously for a couple weeks, then once we saw them using the new one, we decommissioned the reliable but large and comparatively noisy Drinkwell. The cats initially hesitated at using this waterer, but grew to like it as we changed out the top from using the 'flower' adapter, to having it just operate in bubbler mode.* Ease of refilling -- unlike the Drinkwell, which requires removal and refilling of the reservoir, this fountain can easily be refilled by pouring more water into the top pan directly.* Simple filter changes -- lift out, plop in a washed-off new one, and replace the lid. It can all be done while the waterer is running, though it makes most sense to perform after general cleaning.* USB power -- a great idea, since 120V pumps are so unnecessary. We have an outlet that has two USB outputs in addition to the regular 120V receptacles, so plugging in this unit didn't even require the supplied adapter. Some notes, which aren't negs per se, but things to be aware of.* The capacity is not huge, and three large cats can go through 20 ounces of water a day in summer, so be aware of this if you're going to be away. For us, this means the reservoir would be completely gone in four days, and the motor is spinning with no water.* The unit is not gravity-fed, meaning if you are not available to refill, there's no secondary reservoir that automatically refills the waterer until that secondary reservoir runs dry. Thus for trips or time away, additional supplemental bowls are necessary to avoid running out. One could conceivably craft off-the-books workarounds to the volume issue if you're into drilling, adding tubing, and sealing a secondary tank.* Don't overfill. Filling above the viewing port means water can first go down the cable run into the base, and from there, it goes onto whatever you've set the waterer on.* Not really suitable for large pets. This is not a problem we have, but this waterer would not really be sized appropriately for a large, thirsty dog. I feel it's great for cats, and would probably work just fine for a smaller dog. We're thrilled to have found this waterer. After having put up with a reliable but noisy and difficult-to-clean Drinkwell Platinum for nearly 20 years, this is a very welcome change. As above, it is extremely quiet, easy to use, easy to clean, and has very few parts and essentially no chance of leaking.

Good Water Fountain that fits my need
Update 6/16/2021: IF YOUR PUMP STOPPED WORKING TRY THIS FIRST BEFORE BUYING A NEW PUMP OR NEW FOUNTIAN. So the pump in my cats’ water fountain just stopped working when I went to change the water tank for my cats today. I always keep the tank clean for them every few days and actually scrub them to make sure everything is clean. I contacted Amazon about this issue and the only option is to return the item and pay a 20% restocking fee of about $6 for it. I debated on it and said I will decide later. I checked out the Veken water pump replacement and it’s $14-16 on Amazon. Someone mentioned in the review there that the pump can be taken apart and cleaned and that may help you get the pump to work again so I decided to give it a try.The plastic cover on the front and back of the pump came off pretty easily and the front part is where you can take off the other round cover and get to the little magnetic fan thing inside. I took the fan shaped thing out and I used a paper clip to clean inside the tunnel of the small fan thing and then after rinsing everything clean I put it back and plugged it in and it worked like a charm!!! Give this a try if your pump stopped, it may just be the calcium build up inside the fan thing.I’ve been searching for a drinking fountain for my cat for a while. I wanted to get one that has stainless steel top and have different spout options, and also affordable filters. This one fits the bill and all the things I’m looking for. I have this for a couple weeks now and it’s running well. The noise is very low if I don’t have the flower spout on it. With the flower spout on it gets a little loud at times but not so much that it would bother me. My cat likes to drink from it better without the flower top. I will see how this last :)

Works and it's cute
It's easy to assemble and is good at keeping the water clean. My cat also prefers the running water.

Nice quiet cat water fountain - a positive repair addendum
So far - so good. It is indeed very quiet. Your house would have to be nearly totally silent to be able to hear this from more than a few feet away. My cat seems to like it. I like the little window to easily check the water level. I’m concerned about reports of it failing after a few months but we will see. So far I’m very pleased.ADDENDUM - After 14 months of reliable operation i noticed this morning that the fountain wasn't pumping anymore. I took it apart to clean it only to discover that the little USB powered water pump inside wasn't pumping at all. Since my cat seems to like this pump a lot, and so do I, I thought I'd have to buy a new unit. But then I thought could I just replace the pump? When I found the right pump on Amazon, (at half the price of an entire fountain) I then discovered a nice video from the pump manufacturer about how to clean the pump. It looks like a sealed unit, but it's not. With a small flat blade screwdriver, you can easily pry off the end cover with the water inlet screen, then there's another plastic cover inside over the pump chamber itself that just lifts off. Then you can see the impeller that is supposed to spin. That impeller easily pulls out. I found a wad of wet fuzz around the impeller shaft. A few seconds under running water with a small brush everything was clean, everything went back together again, and the pump works. In this day of everything is designed to be thrown away, it's refreshing to see a manufacturer showing you how to easily revive a stalled pump. Now when I clean the overall unit, I will occasionally disassemble the pump to clean it inside.
